Hot Days Ahead

Temperatures could reach near 100 degrees on this week.

 

Extreme heat will enter the area over the next several days. 

The National Weather Service is forecasting a high of 95 degrees on today and 99 degrees on Thursday in Huntley.

High temperatures will then hover around the 90-degree mark through the weekend, according to the NWS. 

A below-average amount of rainfall coupled with the hot weather so far this year has caused drought-like conditions to develop throughout Illinois. At Chicago-O'Hare, 12.65 inches of rainfall have been recorded so far this year while 22.56 inches of rainfall had fallen at this time last year.

In northern Illinois, the conditions have been classified as abnormally dry, which is the least-severe rating on the U.S. Drought Monitor. 

As far weather in Huntley, here are more details on what the weather is expected to be like over the next several days:

  • Wednesday: Sunny skies are predicted with with a high near 95 degrees and wind gusts reaching as high as 30 mph. 
  • Thursday: Mostly sunny skies are predicted with a high near 99 degrees. A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms are expected at night.
  • Friday: Mostly sunny skies and a high near 93 degrees is predicted during the day. 
  • Saturday: Mostly sunny skies and a high near 92 degrees is expected. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms at night. 
  • Sunday: A high of 90 degrees and mostly sunny skies are expected during the day. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms.
