Attorney General Rules Grafton Meeting Violated Open Meetings Act

Former Grafton Township Supervisor Linda Moore called the meeting on March 6 without giving 48 hours notice, according to the Northwest Herald.

The Public Access Bureau of the Illinois Attorney General's Office ruled that a March 6 Grafton Township Board meeting that was held without a 48-hour notice violated the state's Open Meetings Act, according to the Northwest Herald.

The meeting called by former Grafton Township Supervisor Linda Moore was meant to address an already authorized $300,000 payment to the road district that she said would "bankrupt" the town, according to the article. The attorney general's office found that the meeting did not qualify as a bona fide emergency, according to the Northwest Herald.
