Facebook Message Drums Up Support for Fire Victims

Several residents at the Woodcreek Apartments were displaced following a fire on Feb. 3. The blaze killed Allen R. Jacobs, 47.

Penny Andersen, a friend of a Huntley resident who lost everything in a blaze earlier this month, took to Facebook to try and drum up donations for her, according to the Northwest Herald.

A Facebook message was shared on several profiles and has led to donations from the Huntley Goodwill store and from a local group, Take a Stand from Round Lake Beach, who raisied $800 and purchasing various household items, as well as many more donations, according to the Northwest Herald.

Huntley resident Allen R. Jacobs, 47, was killed in the blaze on Feb. 3 and twelve other residents were left without a home because of the fire, the Herald reported earlier this month.
