An individual can only be found guilty in a court of law. A 16-year old boy and a 15-year-old boy from Huntley were arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia on March 11, police said. The juveniles were released to family members and will be petitioned into McHenry County juvenile court. Ivan E. Villavicencio, 42, of 10806 Oregon Trail, Huntley, was arrested for two counts of domestic battery on March 12, according to reports. Huntley trustees and planning commissioners met with Centegra Health System officials Thursday to talk about issues surrounding the proposed Centegra-Huntley Hospital, the Northwest Herald reports. Centegra received approval from the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board last year for a five-story, 375,000 square foot hospital with 128 beds and a full-service emergency room with a Level II trauma center and Level II special care nursery. The building would also have a helipad for transferring critical need patients. Thursday marked the beginning of the review process for Centegra’s plans. It hopes to break ground by October. The public will get a chance to weigh in on the plans through public hearings scheduled 6:30 p.m. …

Centegra hopes to break ground for Centegra-Huntley Hospital in October.
Centegra Health System is hoping to break ground on its Huntley Hospital in October and is starting the formal process of having its project reviewed by the village. Huntley’s village board and plan commission will have a join meeting Thursday, Feb. 7 where Centegra officials will provide preliminary information on the scope of the project, what approval and permits will be required and the determine how it will work with the village through the approval process, according to a village press release. Village seeks residents to fill vacancies.
Huntley is looking for residents interested in filling vacancies on the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Historic Preservation Commission. Mayor Charles Sass makes appointments to the advisory boards with the consent of the village board. Traffic has been switched onto the new pavement on Route 47 between Del Webb Blvd. and Big Timber Road and crews will now start removing the existing bridge. Removing the structure is underway and will continue through Jan. 18, according to the village’s website. This week, the lighting foundation will be installed on Route 47. Underground electrical work for the plazas is ongoing. The village reminds motorists to drive carefully in construction zones.

Collection rates for MDC Environmental service is increasing, per the wastehauler’s contract, in March. The increase excludes apartments and Sun City. New rates will be $19.47 and $16.42 for seniors. The rates will be reflected in the company’s quarterly invoices.

Huntley voters will choose between an incumbent, a former trustee and two challengers for three trustee seats on the village board. Incumbent John Piwko is running for reelection and former trustee Jay Kadakia, who lost his bid for reelection last year, are on the April 9 ballot. Ronda Goldman, who serves on the Zoning Board of Appeals, and JR Westburg, a member of the village’s Planning Commission and an active Huntley Jaycee member, are also running for election.

Did you know leaf burning is not allowed in Huntley? It’s one of the topics covered in Huntley’s monthly newsletter, the Village Journal, which was released this week. The newsletters are sent out with water bills but the village advises residents who have auto pay can look up the newsletter online. Here is this month’s Regulations You Need to Know from the Village Journal: No leaf burning Huntley’s Village Board adopted the McHenry County Open Burning Ordinance to cover ALL property within the Village.
