Former Chicago Bear Shares His Journey from the Suburbs to the NFL

Huntley Area Public Library hosts Jim Schwantz for latest Local Voices lecture.

  Ready for some football? Jim Schwantz will share highlights and show memorabilia from his career in the NFL. The former Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboy player will be speaking from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27 at the Huntley Area Public Library, 11000 Ruth Road, Huntley. Schwantz was born in Arlington Heights and graduated from Fremd High School in Palatine. He went onto to play college ball at Purdue University. He played with the NFL from 192 to 1998. Schwantz played for the Chicago Bears and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a member of the Cowboys when the team won the Super Bowl in 1995. In 2009, he was elected mayor of Palatine. Currently, he is also a commentator on WBBM’s Bears pre-game and post-game shows. Schwantz is the …

While south suburban residents cheered on local products in the Super Bowl, major companies showed off their products in the commercials. Tell us who had the most memorable ad.

From post-apocalyptic Chevy owners to Elton John as a Pepsi-dispensing king, last night's Super Bowl was full of memorable ads. We at Patch weren't that excited by the ads, though. Huntley Mustangs Pac 10 team places second in regional Super Bowl

Pac 10 Red Team defeated by Buffalo Bills but first appearance in championship an accomplishment.

The Pac 10 Red team of Huntley has been the first featherweight team to ever make it to the division Super Bowl of the Chicagoland Youth Football League. The Huntley Mustangs, part of the Huntley Youth Football Program, won second place in the featherweight division “Super Bowl” this weekend against the Buffalo Bills of Buffalo Grove with a final score of 31-0 at Lake Zurich High School.  The Super Bowl was for teams in the Chicago area.  The Mustangs Pac 10 were one of two teams playing Saturday. This team went into the game with a regular season record of 9-2—9 wins and 2 loses.  Jason Vasconez, head coach for the Mustangs Pac 10, was pleased with his record coming into the playoffs, but he said that the actual playoffs were a little …
