Two have been taken to the hospital following a two-car accident that happened at Route 47 and Route 176 in Lakewood around 6:30 a.m. Monday, the Lakewood Police Department toldthe Northwest Herald. The injuries sustained by a man and woman involved in the crash are not considered life-threatening, according to the article.

An Aurora woman will serve a prison sentence for a 2009 fatal DUI crash on Route 47 north of Sugar Grove. Linda L. Knotts, 48 (d.o.b. 7-17-1964), of the 200 block of East Galena Boulevard, Aurora, agreed this week to a sentence of seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections in exchange for a guilty plea to one count of aggravated DUI, a Class 2 felony. Circuit Judge James C. Hallock accepted the plea. At about 5:30 p.m. March 20, 2009, Knotts was driving her yellow 2007 Chevrolet S-10 pick-up south in the northbound lane on Route 47 near Merrill Road when she struck head-on a vehicle driven by 54-year-old William McKenzie of Marengo. Traffic has been switched onto the new pavement on Route 47 between Del Webb Blvd. and Big Timber Road and crews will now start removing the existing bridge. Removing the structure is underway and will continue through Jan. 18, according to the village’s website. This week, the lighting foundation will be installed on Route 47. Underground electrical work for the plazas is ongoing. The village reminds motorists to drive carefully in construction zones.

Traffic on Illinois Route 47 has been shifted onto new pavement and a new bridge over the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) , as part of the Illinois Tollway’s Illinois Route 47 Interchange Project in Huntley. The village of Huntley announced that Manning Road will be closed at Route 47.
The village of Huntley announced that the Manning Road connection to Route 47 will be permanently terminated. The change began Friday, Dec. 14. Manning Road will remain open at Big Timber Road, the village's website states. The village also asks motorists to be aware of lane reconfigurations taking place on route 47 between Big Timber Road and Dhamer Driver/Freeman Road. The work is part of a $69 million project to upgrade the Route 47 and Interstate 90 interchange. Village of Huntley advises motorists to take alternate routes.
Jim Dhamer Drive will be closed, between Sandwald Road and Route 47 on Saturday from 6 a.m. to noon, Huntley officials said. The road will be closed at part of the full interchange project on Route 47. Crews will be installing storm sewers. The village advises motorists to use alternate routes.

Construction on Route 47 and Interstate 90 bridge set to start next week.
Crews will be out on Interstate 90 today doing prep work for the Route 47 interchange project, Illinois Tollway officials said Wednesday. Concrete work will be done on the I-90 median shoulder to create a protected work zone, according to a Tollway release. Traffic will be impacted beginning overnight Monday, June 18 as lanes will be closed to install barrier walls on the inside and outside in both directions. Actual construction will begin on the bridge at Route 47 spanning I-90 by mid-week. Work on Route 47 is set to begin later in the month. UPDATE: IDOT announced an early work start on Tuesday due to the excessive heat. Crews will begin working on placing concrete on Main Street, east of Route 47, beginning at 3am. IDOT asks motorists watch out for flaggers and construction workers. ******************* Illinois Department of Transportation crews are expected to complete water main and sewage line work within the next few weeks and the Route 47 widening road project will move into a new phase, officials said. Illinois Department of Transportation crews will start pouring concrete at various sites along the Route 47 construction route this week, according to the IDOT’s weekly update. Flaggers will be on hand to direct traffic when necessary so be on the look out, according to IDOT. Work will also be done on water main connections and water services connections on Route 47 between Main and Kenneth Streets, the update stated. Finally, new streetlights will be installed on the west side of Route 47 between Algonquin and Reed Roads. Flaggers may be present. Lane configurations along the Route 47 widening project will be changing today so keep an eye out, Illinois Department of Transportation warns motorists. The traffic configurations on eastbound and westbound lanes along Main Street – east of Route 47 – are changing, according to IDOT’s weekly construction update.
