Gas Station Owner Helps Secure Grant for Huntley School

Leggee Elementary School has received a $500 ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program grant.

Leggee Elementary School has received a $500 grant from the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program. The grant will be used to support the school’s math and science programs. James Drendel of the Drendel’s Corner Mobil located at 13280 S. Route 47 in Huntley worked with school officials to secure the grant, which is one of 2,400 available to schools across the country served by Exxon or Mobil stations, according to a District 158 press release. The grants were made possible by funding from the ExxonMobil Corporation. “(Leggee Principal) Scott Iddings works hard to make learning interesting and fun,” Drendel said in a press release. “As a Mobil retailer, I am proud to help young people of Huntley.” The ExxonMobil Educational Alliance …

Leggee PTA Helps Jump Start the Holiday Shopping Season

Huntley Elementary School PTA holds annual Holiday Craft Fair and Bake Sale.

  Are you looking for unique holiday gifts? Something special for your close friends? Well, this holiday sale is for you! Leggee Elementary PTA is hosting their Annual Holiday Craft Fair and Bake Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday November 17. The school is located at 13723 Harmony Road in Huntley at the Harmony road campus. This is a FREE event and is open to the community. There will be crafts, direct sales and a bake sale. All proceeds benefit Leggee Elementary and its school programs. Leggee Elementary Fun Run Raises Thousands of Donations

School's PTA held its third annual Fun Run Friday, raising a little over $25,000.

Leggee Elementary PTA had another successful Fun Run, raising a little over $25,000, organizers said Friday. PTA Treasurer Kate Darnall said the PTA received $1,500 in sponsorships this year which enabled the group to keep expenses down to $550. Leggee Fun Run Scheduled

Huntley school will use proceeds for Smart Boards and more

Leggee students will be running next month for fun, but that fun also will lead to more educational tools. The annual Leggee Fun Run is scheduled for Friday, September 7. The run is one of the Huntley school PTA's biggest fundraisers of the year. This will be the third year for the Fun Run. As part of the event, each of the students is asked to collect pledges. The minimum goal per student is $30. Overall, the school is hoping to raise $30,000 through the fun event. The money will help provide funding for assemblies, field trips, Smart Board, the Raz-Kids Reading program and more. To make it a successful event, the school is looking for volunteers to help. Leggee “Hooray for Hollywood” Music Concert

Fifth graders perform Wednesday, May 16 at Huntley school.

  Fifth grade students at Leggee Elementary School will be attending the Academy Awards!  Well… sort of. Under the direction of music teacher Mary Bell, students will bring the magic of stars gathering on the red carpet and perform their favorite award-winning film music at their concert, “Hooray for Hollywood.” on Wednesday, May 16 at 7:00 p.m. The concert starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 16. Admission is free and is open to the public. Leggee Elementary Art Show Lets Families Experience a New Dimension

Students showcased over 4,000 pieces of art.

  Leggee Elementary’s Annual Art Show, whose theme this year was “Honey, I Shrunk the Students,” featured over 4,000 pieces of artwork created by student artists from kindergarten through fifth grade. Art teacher Cindy Rich said the work was collected all year long and students chose which works to display. The artwork focused on specific time periods, art elements and principles, or artists and their techniques, features a variety of art mediums displayed in the school hallways. Students worked together to create a 25-foot tall school mural in the gym and giant papier-mâché sculptures on display Monday and Tuesday.
