Area Colleges to Host Job Fairs This Week

Job fairs at both McHenry County College and Elgin Community College will be held this Friday.

McHenry County College will host a job fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, April 19, in the Gym/Multipurpose Room of the college, 8900 U.S. Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake. Sponsored by MCC’s Career Services and the McHenry County Workforce Network, the job fair will feature more than 40 employers from various fields. The fair is open to MCC students and community residents. Applicants are encouraged to bring their resumes and dress professionally. Opportunities for both full-time and part-time positions ranging from entry level to professional abilities will be available. The job fair will be held on Feb. 28 at Covidien's Crystal Lake facility.

McHenry County College will hold the Spring 2012 Job and Career Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24 in the MCC Gym/Multi-Purpose Room in Building B.

Area job seekers employers are invited to attend McHenry County College’s Spring 2012 Job and Career Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24 in the MCC Gym/Multi-Purpose Room in Building B. Sponsored by the MCC Career Services Office, the job fair will give job seekers with a wide range of education and skill levels, the opportunity to meet recruiters from several area businesses. Hundreds Flock to Area Job Fair

McHenry County College held the job fair Wednesday afternoon.

Linda Palmisano has been self-employed for four years in the home health care field. The 42-year-old McHenry mother decided Wednesday that is is time for her to look for a new certified nurse’s assistant position. Palmisano started her search at the McHenry County College Fall Job Fair — held from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday in MCC's gymnasium.  “I’m hoping to find something immediately,” Palmisano said. “I received my 2005 CNA license here at MCC and to stay certified I need to keep working in the field.” Dr. Flecia Thomas, dean of student services at MCC, said organizers anticipated 300 to 500 attendees at the fall job fair.  MCC, located at 8900 U.S. Highway 14 in Crystal Lake, typically hosts one fair every year.
