Drivers should be alert for changes in traffic patterns on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) as crews continue creating a work zone for the rebuilding and widening of eastbound lanes. “This traffic shift will enable us to move this $2.2 billion project into high gear so that we can complete the rebuilding and widening of the west section of I-90 next year,” said Illinois Tollway Executive Director Kristi Lafleur. “We will make every effort to minimize the impact of construction on our customers and ask drivers to please be patient and obey the work zone speed limits.” As part of the I-90 Rebuilding and Widening Project, the eastbound lanes between I-39 in Rockford and the Elgin Toll Plaza will be rebuilt and a new lane added to …

His truck then hit a 2012 Freightliner, causing a chain rear end crash between a 2013 Kenworth, a 2005 Freightliner and a 2000 Freightliner semi-trucks. The accident caused a 15-mile backup on I-90, according to reports. State police closed the roadway for hours …

Huntley Village officials have been pushing for years to get the westbound interchange at Route 47 and I-90. The community held a groundbreaking ceremony Monday for the westbound interchange, which is already under construction. The ceremony celebrated years of hard work and lobbying for the road project. Village President Chuck Sass said the community has gone through three different governors, and six different Tollway directors, as it has worked to make the interchange a reality. That ceremony came almost 40 years to the day after the eastbound interchange was first dedicated in Huntley. While I-90 was in place for years before, …

Everything about this project requires massive efforts by a workforce that is directed by precision. Watch out for the teams of workers out there and s-l-o-w - d-o-w-n. I find it totally disgusting how many drivers pay no heed to the construction speed zones. And it is really frustrating that there is no law enforcement effort in sight. They are a critical part of the team promoting safety in …   more ›
