Huntley Gains New Business, New Jobs

RPS Products moving to town, creating 50 new jobs.

  RPS, a leading supplier of residential home filters and related products, announced Thursday it will relocate a portion of its operations to the vacant 65,000 square foot formerly occupied by Dean Foods, according to a release. The company’s products are known under the “Best Air” trade name and RPS sells to major retailers throughout the U.S. Operations at the new Huntley location are planned to begin as early June. “Our location in Huntley only 1.5 miles from the new I-90 interchange will allow us to be highly efficient in the transportation and logistical elements of our operations,” said Dan Schuld, RPS president. “Clearly, the new interchange was a significant positive factor in our decision to locate in Huntley.” The move was …

I don't have any children in the Huntley school system either. However I do appreciate those home owners that paid their taxes when my children were in the schools years ago. No one likes to pay taxes of any kind. I think that the cost of schools should be distributed in a more efficient way as today, Homeowner's are barely hanging on to their homes. It's Huntley Chamber Expo Time

This year’s expo Home & Business Expo is being held Saturday and Sunday at Marlowe Middle School.

  Over 110 exhibitors will be on hand this weekend at The Huntley Area Chamber of Commerce’s Home & Business Expo. The Huntley Chamber extends an invitation to the community to come out from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 for the expo, being held at Marlowe Middle School, 9625 Haligus Road, Lake in the Hills. This free expo is open to the public and features business, services, a petting booth and the Expo Café featuring area restaurants. There's also a grand prize: six tickets to see the Chicago Cubs play the Milwaukee Brewers in Milwaukee on April 20, 2013 with round-trip transportation via limo, tailgate party, food and drinks during the game and Cubs gear.

Huntley Businesses Give Away TV at Fall Fest

Huntley Resident Questions Benefits of a Downtown TIF District

Huntley moves ahead with procedures to establish a Tax Increment District.

  Huntley is moving ahead with plans to establish a Tax Increment District in its downtown hoping to boost redevelopment, but the plans aren’t sitting well with one resident who says the district would be a drain on homeowners’ property values. In a TIF district, property taxes are frozen at a baseline level for as long as 23 years for the purpose of revenue distribution to municipalities, school districts and other taxing bodies. But Mack Titus isn't seen the benefit of a downtown TIF district. The district would lower the EVA (Equalized Assessed Valuation) of residential homes resulting in higher taxes, Titus said Thursday night at a Huntley Committee of the Whole meeting. Huntley Chamber Continues its Mission After 25 Years

Huntley Chamber of Commerce celebrates National Chamber of Commerce week. Chamber members prepare for day at Huntley Farmers Market.

  A month after George Carlson opened his limo business; he joined the Huntley Area Chamber of Commerce. His membership has helped Carlson get the word out about Carlson Livery LLC at multi-chamber events and through referrals from the chamber, he said. “The reception is just phenomenal here,” he said Carlson Livery had a successful first year that began with two cars and ended with the company adding five vehicles and a 20-passenger bus. The success came with help and support from his family, employees and the chamber, Carlson said. The Huntley Chamber has had its own success over the past 25 years, growing from an informal group of businesses to a thriving chamber.
