Huntley Police: Teen Charged with Delivering Pot at Huntley High

Police release reports that include thefts, an aggravated assault and possession of firearm ammunition.

  A 14-year-old Lake in the Hills boy was charged with unlawful delivery of cannabis on school grounds, police said.  He was arrested at Huntley High School, 13719 Harmony Road on May 17. In the same incident a 15-year-old girl from Lake in the Hills was charged with possession of cannabis. Both teens were released to their parents and will attend peer jury. In other reports:

Huntley Police: Multiple Incidents Reported at Huntley High School

A 15-year-old female and a 16-year- old female both from Lake in the Hills were charged with disorderly conduct at Huntley High School, 13719 Harmony Road, on March 18. Both juveniles were released to their parents and will attend peer jury. Lottery tickets and cigarettes were reported stolen from a business in the 11200 block of Route 47 on March 18, police said. Two 14-year-old boys, one from Huntley and one from Lake in the Hills, IL were charged with criminal damage to property on March 19, according to reports. The juveniles …

Huntley Police: Drug Paraphernalia Arrest, Domestic Battery, Warrant Arrests

An individual can only be found guilty in a court of law. A 16-year old boy and a 15-year-old boy from Huntley were arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia on March 11, police said. The juveniles were released to family members and will be petitioned into McHenry County juvenile court. Ivan E. Villavicencio, 42, of 10806 Oregon Trail, Huntley, was arrested for two counts of domestic battery on March 12, according to reports. Former Huntley Police Chief, Richard Rossi, Dies

Rossi served as Huntley's police chief for over 10 years.

Former Huntley Police Chief Richard Rossi died Thursday surrounded by his family  at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, according to his obituary.  He served as Huntley's police chief from 1983 to 1995 and most recently served as the transportation director for District 158, according to the Daily Herald. He is remembered fondly as always having a smile on his face, his friendliness and energy, according to the article.  Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 11008 N. Church St. in Huntley, and will continue at 10 a.m. on Tuesday until funeral services start at 11 a.m. at the church, according to Rossi's obituary. 

CALEA Wants Input on Huntley Police

Huntley Police Department is seeking reaccreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) and agency seeking public’s comments.

  The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. (CALEA) will be in town next month assessing every aspect of the Huntley Police Department and wants to hear from residents. Huntley police received accreditation in 2010 and is now in the process of reaccreditation by CALEA, which is a highly prized recognition of a department’s professional excellence, Chief John Perkins said in a release. A team of assessors from CALEA will be on site Monday, April 1 to examine the department’s policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services, Perkins said.
