Sun City Neighborhood's Legacy of Giving
One neighborhood in Sun City has been holding a bi-annual food drive for the last four years that has generated thousands of dollars and tons of food for Grafton Food Pantry.
Helen White is not sure how Sun City Neighborhood 28 Food Drive started seven years ago. What she is sure about is the biannual food drive has become a tradition in the neighborhood, generating tons of donations for the Grafton Food Pantry. “The ones that give are very, very generous,” said White, who estimates the neighborhood has raised about $8,000 in cash donations since the food drive started. “I got a check in the mail three days ago from a woman who was going on vacation and would miss it (the food drive),” White said. “She wanted to make sure we got our check. Kudos to Neighborhood 28 for their efforts. I talked with someone today from that area in Sun City and the neighborhood is unified in this special effort to help the Grafton Food Pantry. Two residents of neighborhood 36 are also in the process of collecting food and money donations and have done this for several years. This is a heart-warming story to read!
