A McHenry area man was arrested on Saturday night for allegedly treatening U.S. Embassy officials in Serbia as well as Serbians in Chicago over a visa dispute regarding his Serbian wife. Russell K. Gordon, 48, of rural McHenry, was arrested at his home May 18, by special agents of the U.S. Department of Diplomatic Security Service (DDS) and FBI. He is charged with allegedly making threats to kill the U.S. Ambassador in Serbia and Serbians in Chicago because of the visa dispute, according to Randall Samborn, spokesman for the Asst. U.S. Attorney's Office in Chicago. Gordon was scheduled to appear in court on Monday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Susan Cox in the Dirksen Federal Courthouse in Chicago, Samborn stated in a press release. …

The FBI on Saturday released the name of the man shot during an attempted bank robbery in Richmond on Friday morning, and announced charges against the other two men taken into custody. Tony Starnes, 45, of the 7800 block of S. Marquette Ave., Chicago, was killed at about 11:30 a.m. May 10, during a shootout with FBI officers in the parking lot of Associated Bank, 10910 N. Main St. (Route 12), in Richmond, the Daily Herald reports. Starnes was shot to death by FBI special agents after allegedly ramming a Honda Civic into one of their vehicles, the story said. Authorities released new photos early Friday morning of two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings
The FBI has released photos and videos of two suspects in Monday's Boston Marathon bombings, which killed three people and injured nearly 200. At a press conference Thursday, Special agent Richard DesLauriers said the FBI has developed two suspects in the case and are looking for the public's help to identify them. The FBI said these are the only photos the public should view to assist in the case. Suspect #1 is seen in the photos wearing a dark hat. Suspect #2 is wearing a white hat. A Woodstock man was sentenced in federal court in Rockford Monday for carrying out a $7 fraud scheme through his McHenry County business, InvestForClosures. Francis X. Sanchez, 52, co-owned and operated the business and was sentenced to 136 months in prison and to pay $7.8 million in restitution for his role in the scheme, according to a press release from the Federal Bureau of Investigtion. Sanchez pleaded guilty in May. Sanchez’s business partner, James D. Bourassa, 55, of Gilberts pleaded guilty to mail fraud and was sentenced on June 11 to 51 months in federal prison, according to the news release. An Algonquin man has been charged in federal court with two counts of transporting child pornography via the Internet and one count of possessing child pornography that crossed state lines. John Carlson, 37, could face up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised released and a fine of up to $250,000 on each count if convicted, according to a Federal Bureau of Investigation press release. Suspect held without bond as FBI authorities release details of robbery in court file.
A Huntley man was charged with armed robbery in the hold up of Harris Bank this weekend, Federal Bureau of Investigations officials said Monday. Christopher J. Olsen, 29, 18 N 908 Barko Parkway, allegedly admitted he entered the bank at 12920 S. Route 47 around 11 a.m. Saturday carrying a shotgun and demanded money, according a federal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court's Northern District of Illinois.
