Dundee-Crown Athlete of the Week: Ardian Asani

The running back is this week's Athlete of the Week.

Ardian Asani, a senior, ran for 82 yards and a touchdown Friday night in the Chargers' Homecoming loss to Huntley. Asani added two catches for eight yards for D-C as Dundee-Crown fell to 0-5 on the season.

Huntley Athlete of the Week: Amy Kahl

The girls cross country runner is this week's athlete of the week.

Amy Kahl, a senior, led the Red Raiders to a first-place finish on Sept. 17 at the Ryan Byrne Invitational in Woodstock while finishing first in her flighted race with a time of 20:13 for the 3-mile course. Kahl added a third-place finish Tuesday in McHenry with a time of 19:40 over three miles. This week's other nominations: Boys Golf- Ryan Craig and the whole team after breaking a school record while Craig broke a school and course record Saturday with a 6-under par 65 at the Fran Noyes Invitational Boys Cross Country- Nick Meyer. Meyer finished second in McHenry on Tuesday Girls Golf- Danielle Smith. Smith broke 100 for the first time on Sept. 17 at the Mundelein Tournament Girls Tennis- Kayla Garcia. Dundee-Crown Athlete of the Week: Scott Mallers

The boys golfer is this week's athlete of the week.

Mallers, a senior, shot a 39 on Thursday against Jacobs. Mallers added a 79 on Saturday at the Dundee-Crown Invitational to lead the Chargers to a tenth-place finish.

Jacobs Athlete of the Week: Sean Kozak

The boys golfer is this week's athlete of the week.

Sean Kozak, a junior, shot a 73 at Aldeen in Rockford last Saturday to finish second invidually, a 1-over 36 at Randall Oaks on Wednesday in a win over Crystal Lake South and a 39 at Bonnie Dundee on Thursday against Dundee-Crown.

Huntley Athlete of the Week: Trent Craig

The boys golfer is this week's athlete of the week.

Trent Craig, a freshman, led the Red Raiders with a 38 as Huntley broke their school record in a win over McHenry and added a 37 in a one-shot loss to Cary-Grove.

Dundee-Crown Athlete of the Week: Cassie Sommers

The girls volleyball player is this week's choice.

Sommers had 34 digs on Saturday at the Bartlett Invitational as the Chargers won twice in the tournament. Sommers added eight digs earlier in the week during losses to Prairie Ridge and McHenry.

Huntley Athlete of the Week: Amanda Cazel

The girls swimmer is this week's choice.

In the Red Raiders’ first meet of the season, Cazel won the 100 backstroke on Tuesday in a triangular against Bartlett and IMSA with a time of 1:11.58. Other nominations from Huntley coaches: Girls Golf- Danielle Smith Boys Golf- Ryan Craig Boys Cross Country- Sam Marcuccelli Football- Jake Brock

Jacobs Athlete of the Week: Becca Jobst

The Golden Eagle volleyball player is this week's choice.

In the words of Jacobs athletic director Dan Vosnos: Golden Eagle volleyball is based on tenacious defense and that encapsulates the way Becca plays.  As the scrappiest defender for the eagles she lights the fire in us by picking up the toughest shots.  Her never say die attitude shows in each and every play and as the libero, she seems to be everywhere on the court (sometimes we swear there is more than one of her), picking up tips, rolls, hits and covering her hitters.  She gives us second and third chances which is vital against the tough opponents of the FVC.  Off the court she takes her role as captain seriously giving advice and help to the younger players in the program.  She is a true mentor and role model for the lower levels and …
