That's the problem with anonymity on the Internet. It gives the scumbags of the world a voice.
The Other Christine April 20, 2014 at 09:12 am
There is no anonymity when the police can go to Twitter and Comcast for something like this. UnlessRead More this kid was making threats, he should be able to say whatever he wants. He wasn't making child porn or meth, just making fun of a politician... And who hasn't, really?!

William, it is not good for either side to force ones religion or no religion down anyone's throat.Read More It is not good for either side. I don't want to hear the noisy amplified sound system into my home 8 times a day every day. That IS forced religion. Put up a quiet sign and that would be fine. Put up a 500 foot cross and that is fine too. As long as it is QUIET! STOP THE NOISE! NO FORCED RELIGION!
nonoise April 20, 2014 at 01:09 pm
It is all about the noise. It is all about the church's power to do whatever they want with noRead More consequences.
William LaBarge April 20, 2014 at 01:22 pm
nonoise: With due respect, the churches around here had their bells ringing since they were builtRead More some centuries ago. For us to tell those churches they can't ring their bells is not reasonable. If one is bothered by the bells, one should check around the neighborhood for church bells before moving into that neighborhood. I personally like the church bells chiming. On the other hand, when it comes to churches coming before the planning board, neighbors do have their chance to voice their objections to noisy church bells and perhaps have it written into the decision on whether that church may or may not have church bells chiming away. I will not move next to a train tracks for where there are train tracks, there are noisy trains. Likewise, wherever there are churches with bells, there are, from time to time, noisy church bells chiming away.

Hitchens! April 20, 2014 at 09:25 am
It isn't news. That's rapidly becoming the problem with this site. Nothing local. Spam everywhere.Read More Shitty blogs, hookers for sale, and events that are 1000miles away. Time for a sitewide emena.

I think we need more punishments that include restitution by public embarrassment. Holding a sign onRead More a busy corner seems to get the publics attention.

Madigan is a bad guy plain and simple and the democrats have destroyed our state. They continue toRead More get away with it. Our governor is absolutely worthless. All he is capable of doing is showing up at ribbon cutting ceremonies .

It starts at the bottom with the crooked alderman and goes all the way up. Vote republican, let themRead More lead is back to the truth.
Judith April 20, 2014 at 12:59 pm
Vote Republican and let them lead us back to the good old days of the '40s and '50s, those wonderfulRead More days when women died of back-alley and self-induced abortions, when segregation was legal, when anyone could legally be denied a job or an apartment based solely on their race or religion or national origin, when Christian prayer (not non-sectarian, mind you) was allowed in public schools, when teachers had the right to use physical punishment to discipline children, when blacks and whites were subject to arrest if they even walked down the sidewalk together in some states, when blacks were legally subject to poll taxes and/or ridiculous exams before they were allowed to vote in some states...

Card using enthusaists kind of deserve to have this happen to them. By using your cards everywhereRead More you go, do you realize you are taking a large chunk of the businesses profit and choosing to give it to banks and credit card processors rather than the business itself? You, by using your cards, also force businesses to raise prices. Stop using your cards and you won't have to worry about security breaches AND you help businesses AND you help yourself by allowing businesses to lower prices.
Don April 20, 2014 at 10:09 am
For all the years I've had debit cards, never used them. If you're somewhere where credit cards, aRead More check or cash in your pocket can't be used, you shouldn't be there. Besides, most of you forget about all those last minute withdrawals and Irresponsibility takes over, yet you're still surprised- "what happened my bank account?"- the drunken stupor in the bar, or knee jerk "i gotta have it". Most can't afford those approaches, and the service fees know that
cookiepro2 April 20, 2014 at 01:17 pm
I don't like debit cards either, it is a direct line to one's bank account. What I didn't like wasRead More my bank replacing my ATM card with a dual usage ATM/debit card without asking me...I made them cancel it and give me an ATM functionality card only. Some people don't have credit line established yet (like my college student son) and have no choice but to use a debit card instead of credit card. I take precautions and have it assigned to an isolated checking account, and urge son to monitor it closely (set up email alerts), good training for future financial independence.

Psychopaths and Sociopaths abound today! This is really sick news!
Flo W April 20, 2014 at 09:55 am
This is not comedy central....either report news or don't. Making fun of police roundup stories isRead More juvenile. We should be glad they are out there protecting us. Grow up PATCH writers.
Jacob Matthews April 20, 2014 at 10:14 am
Patch writers hide behind a keyboard spewing venom for anyone who can read or be read to. They areRead More cowards. Their "stories" are just that. Not a word of truth in any of them. This website is funded by politicians, more often than not written by them as well hiding behind an editors tag. It's propaganda Flo....and you are correct.....it is childish as well as unprofessional.

Thomas Chamberlin April 20, 2014 at 12:40 pm
William D Brown..If you had carefully read my entry you would realized I referred to Obama asRead More "the current War Criminal in Chief"; Clearly Bush/Cheney et al. should be rotting in jail (or worse) for their enormous crimes. However, you seem to be implying that because Obama is B L A C K I'm somehow prejudiced against him? (Actually, to my everlasting regret, I voted for him a total of four times). If that is what you meant it's just a regurgitation of Thom Hartmann's frequent response to legitimate Obama policy criticism with the dismissive and idiotic "The Black Man in the WH!" defense. The simple reality is that Obama is a puppet for the Evil Empire of Amerika just like Bush/Cheney; he's just more polished at hiding his crimes behind a totally phony "Liberal Constitutional Scholar" veneer.

No one knows if she has PTSD from abuse brought on by boyfriend and just maybe she needs help notRead More punishment.
Kevin April 20, 2014 at 12:02 pm
No William, what she needs is about 50000 volts of electricity.Fry the fat yom up nice and crispy.
David Greenberg April 20, 2014 at 12:39 pm
So what you're saying william is that anyone who comes along and claims "PTSD",Read More "ABUSE", blah, blah blah should get a free pass? Why have laws then? The whole concept of making something a criminal act is that we want to discourage it from happening in the first place, by putting deterrents into effect. One such deterrent is PRISON, another is the Death Penalty. If this person was being abused, she had options BEFORE coming to this point - for whatever reason, she make a decision to kill someone, and a Jury of her peers determined her guilt. So off to jail she goes - hopefully FOREVER.
