It's Ready, Set, Go for Relay for Life Northern Fox Valley

Local Relay for Life set for Friday night and Saturday morning at Huntley Park District, 12015 Mill St.

Relay for Life of Northern Fox Valley teams and their supporters will gather Friday at Huntley Park District’s Recreation Center for a night of inspiration, remembrance and fun.

Relay for Life is one of the premier fundraisers for the American Cancer Society and brings together cancer survivors, care givers and their families to walk for cancer research.

This year’s Relay for Life opening ceremonies will be at 6 p.m. Friday, June 15, with closing ceremonies at 6 a.m. Saturday, June 16.

The 29 teams participating have raised about $30,000 to date, according to Relay for Life's website. Event Chairwoman Tiffany Scerbicke said there are 11 more teams than last year.

The fundraising will continue at the Recreation Center, 12015 Mill St. , on Friday with some teams holding individual fundraisers. The Huntley Park District team is having massage students on site and anyone can get a massage for a donation, Scerbicke said.
