Grafton Food Pantry Begins Search for New Home

Officials said the warehouse that houses the food pantry has been sold.

 

Grafton Food Pantry finds itself in need of a new home since the warehouse it leases on Smith Drive in Huntley has been sold, officials said.

“We currently help to feed almost 200 families every month. The community has been very generous donating both time and dollars and by coming together to help end hunger,” said Harriet Ford, board member and spokesman in a statement released Sunday. “So many individuals, churches, service groups and neighborhoods have reached out to be a part of this effort. Now we are facing another challenge.”

The y is searching for a new home to continue to provide food and other essential items for those in need, Ford said.

Grafton Food Pantry serves Grafton Township_ which covers all of Huntley, Lakewood, Algonquin, Lake in the Hills and Crystal Lake_ and would like to continue operating from Huntley. The pantry needs to find 2,500 square feet at a reasonable rate, Ford said.

“We have allowed adequate time for the search, therefore, services provided to our clients will not be interrupted,” Ford said.

It is a 501 (c) (3), non-profit corporation that operates solely on donations. It is not associated with any government office and does not receive government funding. It is a partnering agency with the Northern Illinois Food Bank.
