Team Goddard School of Elgin joins Relay for Life of Huntley 2013

Welcome Team Goddard School of Elgin to Relay for Life of Huntley

Team Goddard School of Elgin has just joined our community Relay for Life event for 2013.  Team captain, Robyn Burns, became involved with Relay for Life in 2011 after having two parents diagnosed with cancer in late 2010.

Robyn's reason to relay, in her own words:

"My stepfather was diagnosed with stage IV throat cancer.   He had several lymph nodes in his neck removed as the cancer had spread.  He is currently cancer free and doing great!

My mother-in-law was diagnosed with metastic bladder cancer.  After having her bladder and reproductive organs removed, the cancer progressed very quickly and spread to her bones and liver.  She fought for 18 months and unfortunately passed away in July 2012 (I am tearing up as we speak!), just 6 short months ago.

My life has forever changed."

Unfortunately, Robyn, like many others participating in Relay, has lost a loved one to this disease.  So, Relay will be a time for her to remember.

Thankfully, she can also celebrate that her stepfather is a cancer survivor.

Welcome Robyn and team to 2013 Relay for Life of Huntley!
