A look at the big games of the week and some quick notes.

Here’s a quick look at some stories developing with our local teams this week.

Hot Starts: Early on in this 2011 boys’ soccer season, the three local teams have been quite impressive with a combined record of 13-6-2 with Huntley leading the way at 5-1-2 going into play on Tuesday. With Huntley, Jacobs and Dundee-Crown all 4A schools, it can be expected that all three will be bunched into the same sectional when those assignments are announced next week by the IHSA.

On the volleyball side, Huntley remains undefeated at 9-0 and Jacobs is 7-2. Those teams can end up at the Dundee-Crown Regional in Class 4A.

Big Week Ahead: While the Jacobs volleyball has been doing well so far this season, two games loom this week that could be a big clue on where the rest of the season may lie. Tonight, Cary-Grove travels to Algonquin and on Thursday, Jacobs travels to Huntley. If the Golden Eagles can at least split these two games, it may build even more confidence for a talented team.
