Huntley Girls Headed to State in Tennis

The last time Chicago saw a snowfall of at least an inch in October was on Oct. 20, 1989 when 1.8 inches of snow fell.

The Huntley High School girls tennis team placed fourth at its sectional this past weekend in Huntley, according to the Illinois High School Association website.

The Jacobs High School tennis team scored 22 points, winning the sectional over second-place finisher Hampshire High School, which had 17 points. South Elgin High School finished in third place with 16 points and Huntley High School finished in fourth with 14 points.

Huntley double players senior Tamara Funke and senior Jantzen Rosales earned a trip to the state meet after placing first at the sectional. Jacobs sophomore Ashley Kosy singles match-up and will be headed to state.

The state final tournament will be held Oct. 24 through 26 at Buffalo Grove High School.
