Huntley Basketball Beats Hampshire In Holiday Tournament

Raiders boys beat Whip-Purs 54-49 on Wednesday in the Sycamore Thanksgiving Tournament.

The Courier-News on Thursday reported the Huntley Raiders boys basketball team defeated the Hampshire Whip-Purs 54-49 on Wednesday in the Sycamore Thanksgiving Tournament.

According to The Courier, Huntley’s Justin Frederick came through in the clutch for Huntley (2-0) in the fourth quarter by burying a pair of jumpers from the top of the key before sinking two free throws with 27 seconds left to seal the outcome. The senior finished with a team-high 12 points.

“We were fortunate to pull it out,” said Huntley coach Marty Manning, who notched his 100th career victory with the triumph. “I think it’s because we had the first-half lead, but (Hampshire) definitely outplayed us in the second half. There’s no question they were the better team for those 16 minutes.”
