Speaker Gives Leggee Students Firsthand Account of Life During WWII

Presentation provides Leggee fifth graders insight on life in Britain during World War II.

Leggee Elementary School students got a personal viewpoint of World War II when speaker Joy Aavang shared her stories recently.

Aavang was living in Britain during the war and told fifth grade students about air raid shelters and asked students to imagine having to leave school to take cover in these shelters when bombs were dropped.

British citizens received ration portions of food, the equivalent of four slices of cheese and a portion of flour that would need to last for one month, Aavang said.
