Quinn Signs New Law Affecting Educators

Administrators react to law.

A new law signed by Gov. Pat Quinn Monday will give school districts more power to fire teachers and makes it harder for Illinois teachers to strike, according to the Associated Press.

District 300 Superintendent Michael Bregy told the Northwest Herald the new law, which largely had the support of unions and advocacy groups, was a step in the right direction because of collaboration involved.

The Chicago Tribune reports the education reform would also change the way teachers earn tenure.
