Local Elementary Students Perform in 'An Evening of Percussion' at Raue Center

The performance will be this Saturday.

A group of fourth and fifth grade students from Martin Elementary School will perform in "An Evening of Percussion" this Saturday at the Raue Center for the Arts, 26 N. Williams St. in Crystal Lake.

The Mallets, Movement and More group is led by Martin music teachers Ingrid and Brent Mullane. 

The purpose of the group to showcase the skills and talents of Martin's students, and is also meant to encourage early musical leadership, connecting the school with the "local community through a positive artistic outlet," according to the District 158 press release.

“The students have worked hard to learn some challenging music using barred mallet percussion instruments, hand percussion, drums, recorders and other instruments, and are very excited at the opportunity to perform in such a great venue,” said Mullane in the press release. 

“An Evening of Percussion” will also feature performances by the Crystal Lake Strikers All-Star Drumline, which is made up of adult drummers as well as talented high school drummers, along with a variety of percussionists and ensembles from Crystal Lake and the surrounding communities, according to the news release.

Tickets for the show are $12 for adults, $5 for children ages 8-17; children 7 and under are free and are available on the Raue Center's website or by calling theRaue Center Box Office at (815) 356-9212. 

Mallets Movement and More members include: Lydia Sciascia, Mikayla Madsen, Patricia Swierczek, Jack Szmergalski, Angel Wat, Elizabeth Troy, Carter Betz, Michael King, Connor Burns, Jensen Jones, Zachary Isenegger, Emma Arnold, Kayla Yakimisky, Emma Cross, Kaylin Drag, Jack Harper, Noelle DeRennaux, Victoria Smolen, Grace Gato, Garrett Anderson, Madison Field, Allison Koch, and Noelle Tuegel.
