Jurs/Raider Way Outstanding Students Announced

Two Huntley High Students recently received the for exhibiting the qualities of the Red Raider Way: Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Involved.

Senior Nicole Harris and junior Christian Murillo were nominated by Huntley High faculty.

Harris is described as a wonderfully sweet student who is hard working and respectful, but best of all, she has a kind heart and a willingness to serve and help others.

She serves as a teacher at her church and has a special fondness for children with autism. Nicole loves to read and share the world of literature with others.

She knows the value of a good book, the worth of the minutes of her day, and the effect of a kind word and smile. This kind-hearted, quiet natured senior was nominated by Kay Meyer.

Murillo was nominated by Valerie Lindquist who describes him as a leader with quiet authority, who is confident and sure of himself. He is interested in pursuing a career in the medical field which will be a good match for his intellect, compassion for others and leadership qualities.

He is involved in the HHS Link Crew, as well as the varsity boy’s tennis team. Murillo is also a member of the Community Service Club. When he is not helping out the Service Club, he volunteers at a local pet shelter.

The award was established by Tom Jurs, a Huntley businessman who wanted to highlight the good things teens are doing around the community.
