Huntley High School Journalism Team Places Second at State

Senior Michael Geheren was named to the all state journalism team for the second year in a row.

For the second consecutive year, the Huntley High School journalism team brought home the second place finish in the Illinois High School Association State Journalism finals, according to a District 158 press release.

Also for the second consecutive year, senior Michael Geheren was named to the Illinois Journalism Education Association’s All State Team at the state finals. 

Individual place winners included: Holly Baldacci, first place, news writing; Randi Peterson, second place, copy editing; Alyssa Walter, second place, yearbook design; Joe Cristo, third place, review writing; Kayla Garcia, fourth place, broadcast news writing; and Tom Heagney, fifth place, feature writing, according to the news release.

Minooka High School placed first at the finals and Naperville Central finished in third place, according to the IHSA website. The finals were held on April 26 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, according to the IHSA website.
