Huntley High School Going"Under the Sea" for Homecoming 2012

Student body celebrates homecoming Sept. 16-22 with lots of events, like a parade in downtown Huntley.

 

Community members and Huntley High School alumni are invited to join in the festivities of this year’s Homecoming as students prepare to go “Under the Sea.”

Homecoming week includes events for students like Spirit Week and a Homecoming rally but the following events are open to the public:

Powder Puff Pre-Game Relay Races

1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 16

Huntley High School football field

The Pre-Game Relay Races are new this year as teams of high school students participate in a variety of relay races and compete for prizes as a prelude to the annual Girls’ Powder Puff Football Games.

2-6 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 16

Huntley High School football field

Admission is $1.00 for students; $2.00 for adults; and District 158 employees are free with ID.

What would Homecoming be without the annual Girls’ Powder Puff Football Games? Watch as the freshman girls, coached by Jeff Angle, take on the sophomore girls, coached by Patrick Odarczenko. Then see if the junior girls, coached by Kim Hoffman, can tackle the seniors, coached by Tom Kempf. Both games should provide hours of entertainment And of course, half-time entertainment will be provided by the guy poms.

Come support the girls in their football endeavors and the boys in their dancing dreams!

 

Homecoming Parade

Step off at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 19

Old Timer’s Park,10804 N. Church St.

This year the parade route will be reversed with line up at Old Timer’s Park at 6 p.m. The parade will step off at 6:30 p.m. The parade travels down Main Street to the Municipal Building. Any community group wishing to participate in the parade should contact Tom George at tgeorge@district158.org or 847-659-6541.

 

The big event- the 2012 Homecoming Game

Sophomores at 5 p.m., Varsity at 7:15 p.m., Friday, Sept. 21

Huntley High Football Field

The Homecoming Game will be played against the Dundee Crown Chargers beginning at 7:15 p.m. Come watch as Varsity Head Coach John Hart’s Red Raiders bring home the victory! At half time of the Varsity game, the Homecoming Court will be presented along with their parents.
