Augustine is a phenomenal AP Spanish student who uses his gift for his foreign language to help others around him, said Spanish teacher Julie Swartzloff, who nominated him.

Every time there is an opportunity to volunteer, he is the first in line. He has volunteered his time as a bilingual babysitter for the District 158 Bilingual Parent Committee meetings several times this past fall. In addition, he has started tutoring a Spanish student at the high school. Augustine’s strong character and volunteer spirit make him an excellent choice for Student of the Month.

Gonzalez is a good problem solver and is willing to go the extra mile to meet her goals as well as to help others, HHS counselor Patricia Zacharias said. Zacharias nominated her.

She has helped others in the community by volunteering at the local animal shelter and for Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Krystal is currently involved in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) at the high school.

Zacharias described Gonzalez as “a kind and confident young woman who strives for excellence in all she does.”
