Holocaust Survivor Shares Story at Huntley High School

Two presentations will be held on April 3 and are open to the public.

Holocaust survivor Lisl Bogart will share her story of survival and courage to students in World History and World Geography at Huntley High School on Wednesday, April 3.

Two 60-minute presentations will be held in the school’s performing arts center at 9:00 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. and will include an introduction from Lisl’s family friend and HHS social worker, Katie Szarzynski, according to a District 158 press release The public is invited to attend either presentation at Huntley High School, 13719 Harmony Road in Huntley. 

Audience members will hear Lisl’s story of how she was taken from her home by the Nazi’s and transported to the Theresienstadt Concentration Camp where she was later liberated on May 7, 1945, according to the news release.

“This should be a great learning experience for all of us, so I wanted to share the chance with others by opening the presentations up to the community,” said Anne Sharkey, a World History and World History Honors teacher at Huntley High School.
