Two Injured in Lake in the Hills Fire; 3 Pets Dead

Two people were injured in a fire on Jan. 13, at 305 Chippewa Trail, Lake in the Hills.

Two people were injured in a fire early Monday morning at a ranch-style home on Chippewa Trail in Lake in the Hills, according to an Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District press release. 

Firefighters responded at 1:33 a.m. to 305 Chippewa Trail after being notified by a resident who discovered the blaze coming from a bedroom in the residence, according to the press release. 

All of the residents were able to get out the the home. Two people were transported to area hospitals after sustaining injuries, according to the news release. 

The Northwest Herald is reporting two cats and a dog died in the fire. 

Upon arrival to the home, fire officials said the blaze was showing in the lower level.  Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze and then began to vent the house to let the smoke out, according to the news release. 

The fire remains under investigation. Damage costs are expected to be over $40,000.
