Quinn Announces $5.6 Million for Construction Projects in McHenry County

Illinois Route 31 will be widened and improved for nearly nine-tenths of a mile from Trinity Drive to Rakow Road in Cary, Lake in the Hills and Crystal Lake.

The following informations comes from a press release from the Office of the Gov. Pat Quinn. 

Governor Pat Quinn announced last week an investment of $5.6 million for road construction projects in McHenry County. 

Funded by his Illinois Jobs Now! construction program, the projects are part of Governor Quinn’s commitment to creating jobs and driving Illinois’ economy forward.

“One project will widen and improve one of the busiest routes through Cary, Lake in the Hills and Crystal Lake, while the other will make it easier for persons with disabilities to travel through McHenry County” Governor Quinn said. “The projects will also employ a number of construction workers, which will drive local economies forward.”

The projects will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Illinois Route 31 will be widened and improved for nearly nine-tenths of a mile from Trinity Drive to Rakow Road in Cary, Lake in the Hills and Crystal Lake. This includes adding additional lanes, constructing a retaining wall, and other work. Plote Construction, Inc. of Hoffman Estates was the lowest of six bidders for the work at $5,194,261.

Pedestrian ramps that meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements will be installed at various locations in McHenry County by Sumit Construction Co., Inc. of Chicago, the lowest of four bidders.

The projects are part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest construction programs in the nation.
