The village of Huntley announced that the Manning Road connection to Route 47 will be permanently terminated.
The change began Friday, Dec. 14. Manning Road will remain open at Big Timber Road, the village's website states. The village also asks motorists to be aware of lane reconfigurations taking place on route 47 between Big Timber Road and Dhamer Driver/Freeman Road.
The work is part of a $69 million project to upgrade the Route 47 and Interstate 90 interchange. The project is a partnership between Huntley, Kane County, McHenry County and the Illinois Department of Transportation.
"The Illinois Route 47 Interchange Project includes construction of six new ramps with all-electionic toll plazas, construction of a new 7 lane bridge carrying Illinois Route 47 over I-90, as well as local traffic signal installation and lighting improvements," the project website states.
The project will give Huntley a full interchange with Interstate 90. The project is expected to be completed in summer 2013.
