League of Women Voters Forum Host Kane County Candidates

Forum scheduled at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11.

 

The League of Women Voters of Central Kane County will present a Kane County candidates forum at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 in the City Council Chambers at Batavia City Hall, 101 N. Island Ave.

The forum features candidates in contested races for Kane County office in the General Election on Nov. 6.

“Our forums offer citizens an opportunity to hear candidates express their opinions in an unbiased, civil setting," League Voter Service Chair Patti Lackman said. "The League hopes that those who attend will be better able to understand candidate capabilities and viewpoints so that, as voters, they can make informed choices at the polls.”

The League has invited the following candidates to participate, though at press time not all had responded:

  • Kane County Board Chair:

        Sue Klinkhamer (D) and Chris Lauzen (R)

  • Kane County Coroner:

        Tao Martinez (D) and L. Robert Russell (R)

  • Kane County Recorder:

        Brenda Rodgers (D) and Sandy Wegman (R)

  • Kane County Circuit Clerk:

        Thomas M. Hartwell (R) and Edmund James Nendick (D)

A primary goal of the League of Women Voters is to encourage educated and active participation of citizens in government. The League is a nonpartisan organization that never endorses candidates for any office.
