Huntley Ash Tree Program Closed

The Village of Huntley has closed its ash tree replacement program.

The program offered residents who were replacing ash trees killed by the emerald ash borer compensation of 50 percent of the cost up to $175, the Daily Herald Reported.

The village had budgeted $20,000, but ran over budget by $8,000 after receiving a record 185 orders for 192 trees, the newspaper reported.

The village states on its web site that it no longer is accepting orders and applications for spring 2013.  The village does offer a list of registered contractors to residents who wish to plant a tree – on their own – in the parkway.
