Hunt Wins Republican Primary for Kane County Auditor

Accountant endorsed by current auditor, Bill Keck, led a pack of three candidates.

 

Republican Terry Hunt got voters’ nod for Kane County auditor in Tuesday’s primary race.

Hunt beat out his challengers, Laura Wallett and Karl Regnier, in unofficial election results.

The Kane County Clerk’s unofficial vote totals showed Hunt had 13,197 votes or 36.67 percent while Wallett had 11,284 votes or 31.35 percent while Regnier had 4,576 votes or 12.72 percent with 228 out of 228 precincts reporting.

The Aurora Election Commission, which counts votes in Aurora precincts, showed Hunt had 1,666 votes or 41.1 percent while Wallett had 1,275 votes or 31.5 percent. Regnier had 1,111 votes or 27.4 percent, according to unofficial totals in 71 out of 71 precincts.

Hunt has been an accountant and auditor for 37 years. Current auditor Bill Keck endorsed Hunt. He wants to continue the work Keck has been doing but also plans to try new programs. He is interested in publishing the county checkbook online.
