Electric Aggregation Rates Start in August

New supplier will be Direct Energy.

 

New, lower rates as part of Huntley’s Electric Aggregation Program will be reflected in next month’s electric bills, the Northwest Herald reports.

Voters passed a referendum in March authorizing new program. Electric aggregation involved governments bundling residential and small retail electric account together to buy electricity at a group rate.

Huntley joined the Northern Illinois Governmental Electrical Aggregation Consortium, which negotiates with electric suppliers. Direct Energy was chosen and residents had the option to opt-out of the program earlier this year.
