Centegra Files Appeal To State Board's Hospital Decision

Centegra officials confirmed Tuesday that they filed an appeal to the board's decision in December denying the Huntley hospital project.

The fight to bring a hospital to Huntley is not over.

Centegra Health System has appealed last month’s Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board decision rejecting its certificate of need for plans to build a 128-bed hospital at Centegra’s Huntley campus at Reed and Haligus roads.

Kim Kubiak, senior public relations coordinator for Centegra, on Tuesday confirmed Centegra officials filed a formal appeal to the state board’s decision within the time restraint guidelines put forth by the state.

Centegra leaders feel strongly that the proposed $233 million hospital meets the needs of residents living in Huntley and the nearby communities.

“We believe strongly that our project is what this growing county needs, and that it meets the CON criteria for a new hospital,” said Susan Milford, senior vice president of strategic marketing, planning and wellness for Centegra.

”The people of southern McHenry and northern Kane counties deserve and need a new hospital. We remain steadfast in our dedication to bring Centegra Hospital-Huntley to the residents of our community.”

On Dec. 7, 2011, the state review board voted 4-4 to reject Centegra’s certificate of need application. Five votes were needed to approve the project. One of the nine review board members was absent from that hearing held in Bolingbrook.
