Police Issue Warning About Solicitors

Keep door-to-door salespeople away by picking up a "no solicitation" sticker from the police department.

 

If you want to keep salespeople from knocking on your door, stop by the Huntley Police Department to pick up a free “no solicitation” sticker.

The Huntley Police Department has recently received complaints about businesses soliciting door to door in town, according the village of Huntley newsletter.

The police can’t prevent solicitors from approaching a home or business unless there is a “no solicitation” sign or sticker posted on their front door, the newsletter states.

Huntley Police Department offers free “no solicitation” stickers, and residents are encouraged to stop by and pick one up at police headquarters, 10911 Main St.

“If you have a sticker displayed, and a solicitor attempts to contact you, do not answer the door,” the article states. “If you do answer the door, draw their attention to the posted no soliciting sign and ask them to leave. If they refuse call the police.”

Any resident who doesn’t have a sticker displayed and feels they are being unduly harassed by a solicitor should also notify police.
