Motorcyclist Dies Following Monday Crash in LITH

A motorcyclist who collided with a car in Lake in the Hills Monday afternoon has died.

Christopher Q. Gramer of Lake in the Hills was traveling west on Algonquin Road at Lake Drive when he collided with a 2010 Ford Focus at 3:38 p.m Monday. The Ford was traveling west on Algonquin and turning north onto Lake Drive at the time of the crash, according to a Lake in the Hills Police Department press release.

Gramer was ejected from his 2004 Suzuki motorcycle. He was taken to Sherman Hospital and later died, according to the news release.

The driver of the Ford Focus, Lucy L. Tanksley of Lake in the Hills, was treated at the scene and released.

Algonquin Road was closed for about two hours Monday afternoon during the investigation. The accident remains under investigation.

Sounds like we lost another due to left turning drivers. Doesn't read like that. I'll wait for the investigation results but I think the headline is misleading.

Doesn't it sound like both were heading west and the car was turning right (north)? If that's the case I'm wondering if the motorcycle was speeding down shoulder? I've seen that happen. Either way, it's sad!

The ford was traveling west, and turning onto Lake, that has to be a right turn. No possible left turn

i went by it on the way home from work ,and to me it looked like the car had just turned left and the motorcycle hit the passenger side cause the car was on the side street already and my first thought was the car tried to beat the cycle ,but i said to myself from looking at the damage the cyclist was dead and sure enough he didn't make it very sad ... slow down people
