Anthony Occhipinti was convicted of possessing 195 pounds of marijuana.

An Elmhust man convicted in what police said was the largest drug bust ever in the village of Lake in the Hills has been sentenced to five years in prison, according to the Northwest Herald.

Anthony V. Occhipinti entered a guilty plea to unlawful possession of more than 5,000 grams of marijuana and a class X felony drug charge was dismissed Monday in McHenry County Court, according to the article.
Police said they saw Occhipinti driving in a suspicious manner near 3200 Chadwick Lane in Lake in the Hills on Nov. 23, 2010. When police approached his car, Occhipinti got out of the car and ran.

Police recovered 195 pounds of marijuana from Occhipinti's car. The drugs had an estimated street value of $1.76 million.

The drug bust was the largest amount of marijuana ever confiscated in Lake in the Hills, village Police and Public Safety Director Jim Wales told Lake in the Hills Patch in an earlier article.
