Man Injured in Motorcycle, Dump Truck Crash in Crystal Lake

The accident occurred at Route 31 and Route 176 in Crystal Lake Monday afternoon.

A 53-year-old motorcyclist was taken to an area hospital Monday after colliding with a dump truck at the intersection of Route 31 and Route 176 in Crystal Lake. 

The accident occurred at 1 p.m. when the six-wheel dump truck, which was traveling south on Route 31, began to turn left onto Route 176 and collided with the 2012 Yamaha motorcycle, which was northbound on Route 31. 

The driver of the motorcycle, Andrzej Grygorowicz, 53, of Schaumburg, was taken to Centegra McHenry Hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the dump truck, Leoncio Quezada, 59, of Wheeling, was not injured in the crash. He was cited for failure to yield when turning left at an intersection. 

Grygorowicz was cited for operating a motor vehicle without the proper classifications of a driver's license.

Traffic in the intersection was restricted for approximately 30 minutes as crews transported the injured, investigated the cause, and cleared the damaged vehicles and debris.
