Suburban College Student Stabbed in Minneapolis Robbery; Friend Credited With Saving Her Life
The Mundelein woman and her friend were both stabbed during a robbery in Minneapolis. Both are listed in satisfactory condition at a Minnesota hospital, according to media reports.
A University of Minnesota student from Mundelein was stabbed early Monday during a robbery and her friend is credited with helping to save the woman's life by applying a tourniquet to the wounds, according to the Daily Herald.
The woman was walking with her roommate at about 12:15 a.m. Monday from a bar in the city's northeast side, which is a heavily-traveled and well-lit area of town, when a man who was wearing a ski mask demanded money, which the women gave him, according to the article.
The robber still proceeded to stab Alex Maple, 21, of Mundelein, in the arm, causing a severe wound to an artery, and her roommate, whose name is not being released, in the back, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Maple's friend took action quickly wrapped her shirt around Maple's wound, which "basically saved her life," Minneapolis police told the Chicago Tribune.
