Lake in the Hills Man in Critical Condition

Two others hospitalized with injuries.

A 19-year-old Lake in the Hills man was listed in critical condition Saturday evening from injuries he received in a two-car accident on Friday.

Kenneth Horney was taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin following the accident on Algonquin and Lakewood Roads around 9:48pm, Sgt. Robert Harper said.

Two passengers in Horney’s car, Cody Ortiz, of McHenry, and Brandon Thennisch, of Algonquin, both 17, were also transported, but their injuries did not appear life threatening, Harper said. No details on their conditions were available Saturday.

The driver of the second vehicle, Brittany Foster, 19, of Huntley, was transported to Woodstock Memorial in Woodstock, Harper said. No details on her condition was avaialble. She did not have life threatening injuries.

Foster was driving a Chevrolet Cobalt westbound on Algonquin Road and was stopped at the intersection, Harper said. She then turned in front of Horney’s Ford Shay, a replica of a 1920s Ford Model T as it headed eastbound, Harper said.

Horney and Ortiz were both ejected from the vehicle and firefighters had to extricate Thennisch from the wreck, Harper said.

According to Chicago Breaking News, the victims in the Ford suffered “incapacitating” injuries.

Foster was ticketed with failure to yield turning left, he said.
