Kane County Sheriff's Deputies Arrest Accident Victim on DUI Charge

Accident reported on Route 47 and Big Timber Road early Friday.

 

Kane County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a woman who crashed her car into a telephone pole and walked away from the scene, leading police to use a thermal imaging system to try and track her down, reports stated.

Allyson Holze, 24, of 11 William Dive, Elgin, faces a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a personal injury crash and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, sheriff’s deputies said.

Deputies responded to an accident at Big Timber Road and Route 47 in Hampshire Township around 1:45 a.m. Friday and found a 2003 Jeep Cherokee that struck a utility pole but could not find the driver, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

Rescue personnel used a thermal imager and a K9 officer to search for the vehicle’s occupants but could not find anyone near the site, reports stated. The owner could not be contacted, deputies said.

Hours later, a resident in the 17N200 block of Manning Road reported seeing a person walking near a church and deputies were able to track the woman down. The woman, identified as Holze, admitted she was the driver of the vehicle that struck the pole, deputies said.

Holze was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was transported to Sherman Hospital with minor injuries, reports stated. She was arrested after her release from the hospital.
