Kane County Sheriff Investigate Suspicious Incident Involving Man Offering a Child a Ride

Incident in Maple Park a reminder for parents to keep an eye on children and discuss stranger danger, especially on Halloween.

The Kane County Sheriff’s office is warning parents about a suspicious incident in Maple Park where a man approached an 8-year-old boy Tuesday evening.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to 46W440 Beith Road for a report of a suspicious vehicle that pulled into the driveway around 5:15 p.m. The driver asked the boy, who was outside the home, if he wanted a ride, reports stated.

The boy’s mother heard the vehicle and gave police a description: a maroon 1990’s model, four door, possibly a hatchback with a loud muffler, authorities said. The driver was described as an older male with white hair and glasses and a “wrinkly” face, according to reports.

Sheriff’s Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle. There were no additional reports of this nature in the area.  

With Halloween today, the incident is a reminder for parents to keep an eye on children while they are outside the home and to talk to the about stranger danger.
