Huntley Woman and Two Girls Injured in Single-Car Accident

Woman and two children were transported to St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford following crash.

A Huntley woman and two young girls were injured Friday morning following a single-car accident near Union.

Mary C. Quinones, 28, was driving a 2001 Ford Focus wagon at about 8:15 a.m. June 14 near the 16800 block of Marengo Road in unincorporated Coral Township south of Union, according to a McHenry County Sheriff's Office news release.

Quinones was traveling westbound when her car left the north side of the roadway, struck a concrete culvert and overturned, according to the release.

Members of the Huntley, Union, and Marengo Fire Protection Districts, REACT medical helicopter, and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

Quinones, was transported by REACT medical helicopter to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, where she remained in stable condition, according to the release.

The passengers - two girls ages 6 and 7 - were transported by ambulance to St. Anthony Medical Center. The were also listed in stable condition.

Sheriff's police said the car's front airbags deployed, and Quinones was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. It was undetermined if the juveniles were properly restrained, according to the release.

Alcohol and drugs were not considered to be a factor. However, driver distraction was suspected as playing a role, according to the release.

The traffic crash is under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit.
