Huntley Police Blotter: Two Crystal Lake Men Face Burglary Charge

Huntley police release this week's reports.

Two Crystal Lake men face burglary and theft charges in a scheme to steal scrap metal from a Huntley company and sell it, Huntley police said.

Michael F. Lucas, 63, of 694 Auburn Court, Crystal Lake, was arrested on a charge of burglary, a Class 2 felony and misdemeanor theft on Oct. 14, police said.

Lucas's son, Mathew R. Lucas, 29, of the same address, was arrested on the same charges. Michael F. Lucas posted bond and was released. Mathew Lucas was transported to McHenry County Jail to await bond.

Police said Michael Lucas is an employee at MAASS Midwest, 11283 Dundee Road, who is accused of using his employee key to gain entry to the business after hours to remove scrap metal.

The two are being charged with stealing less than 300 pounds of scrap metal and selling it for a total not exceeding $500, police said.

In other police reports released this week:

  • A laptop computer was reported stolen from a retail store in the 12300 block of Route 47 on Oct. 10, police said.
  • A burglary to motor vehicle report was taken in the 10800 block of Wing Pointe Drive on Oct. 10, police said. Items were stolen from the unlocked vehicle.
  • Richard Eremenchuck, 49, of 13700 Wilshire Way, Huntley, was arrested Oct. 12 on an outstanding warrant from Erie County, Pa., reports stated. Eremenchuck was transported to McHenry County Jail.
  • Jennifer A. Zelinski-Dunkel, 35, of 11607 Daniel Lane, Unit D, Huntley, was arrested on a charge of failure to notify police of a property damage accident and was cited with improper lane use and driving an uninsured motor vehicle on Oct. 13, according to reports. Zelinski-Dunkel posted bond and was released with a McHenry County court date of Nov. 14.
  • A 14-year-old Huntley youth was charged with disorderly conduct on Oct. 14 in an incident at Huntley High School, 13719 Harmony Road. No further details are available. Police said the juvenile was released to his mother and will be petitioned into McHenry County Juvenile Court.
  • A global positioning system unit was stolen from a vehicle in the 10800 block of Potomac Lane on Oct. 14, police said.
  • Someone stole a license plate from a car parked in a driveway on the 11000 block of Cape Cod Lane on Oct. 15, police said.
