Huntley Police Blotter: Suspects Impersonate ComEd, Village Employees

Police advise residents not to let anyone without proper identification into their home.

Huntley police continue investigating an attempted residential burglary involving three men who gained entry to a home by claiming to represent ComEd and the village of Huntley.

Deputy Chief Todd Fulton said the incident happened over the weekend in the 11600 block of Mill Street. Three Hispanic men spoke with the owner of the house and claimed they were checking up on recent power outages and complaints of lead in the village water, Fulton said.

Inside the home, one of the suspects went with the victim to the basement while the other two went through the victim’s belongings in the rest of the house, according to police reports.

Huntley police want residents to be on alert.

“People should never allow anyone inside their homes until they are 100 percent sure that they say who they say they are,” Fulton said. “Citizens should ask for property identification. If they are still not sure, call the police to verify the identity.”
