Huntley Police Blotter: Man Falls Victim to Scam

Huntley police release reports.

A Huntley grandfather fell victim to a scam, wiring $4,500 to the Dominican Republic to “bail out” his grandson, police said.

The victim filed a report Sept. 2 and told police he received a call from an unknown person posing as his grandson and instructing him to wire the cash to get him out of jail, according to reports.

After sending the cash, the victim learned his grandson did not make the phone call and was not out of the country, police said.
