Huntley Police Blotter: Drug Arrests Reported

Police release reports for May 28 to June 1.

A person was fatally shot in downtown Elgin Thursday evening, police said.

The shooting occurred sometime about 7:45 p.m. near the intersection of Dundee Avenue and Symphony Way.

Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting except to say it was being investigated by the department’s gang unit and major investigations division.

Police had cordoned off a block-long section of Symphony Way between Dundee Avenue and Center Street.

A blue Audi was parked on the street there, and police searched the vehicle after the shooting.

A 17-year-old Huntley boy faces several drug charges, police said.

The juvenile, whose name was not released, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia on June 1, police said.

He was transported to McHenry County jail to await bond call.

In other police reports released this week:

  • Criminal damage to property was reported in the 10700 block of Cape Cod Lane on May 28, police said. A liquid substance was thrown at a garage door, staining it.
  • Thomas A. Cristofaro, 31, of 100 W. Oak Knoll Drive, Hampshire, was arrested on outstanding McHenry County warrants for harassment by telephone and harassment by electronic device on May 29, according to police. Cristofaro posted bond and was released with a McHenry County court date of June 26.
  • A 15-year-old Huntley boy was arrested for possession of cannabis at Huntley High School on Harmony Road on May 29, police said. The juvenile was released to his parents and will attend peer jury.
  • A mailbox was reported stolen in the 12200 block of Daphine on May 29, reports stated.
  • A 16-year-old Huntley boy was charged with possession of cannabis on May 31, police said. The juvenile was released to his father and will be petitioned into McHenry County Juvenile Court.

All individuals listed as arrested or charged with a crime in this press release are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
